DIESEL FUEL TANK REPAIR NOW POSSIBLE!

Diesel Fuel Tank Repair – I used a sample of EZ-Poly Multi-Mender to repair a broken 0.25 inch OD plastic return nipple on my Kubota tractor’s diesel fuel tank. As I explained to you in my first email, the tank is fabricated from a black plastic with a rather convoluted shape. I was not able to reliably reattach the broken 0.25 inch plastic nipple to its original location because it was damaged when it backed into a tree on the front lawn. I used the EZ-Poly Multi-Mender to attach a short length of 0.25 inch OD Type 301 stainless steel tubing to the black plastic fuel tank. When I explained the problem in my initial web based help line question, I received your personal reply to my inquiry about the suitability of using EZ-Poly Multi-Mender to affect the needed repair. The product performed even better then you described that it would in our email conversations. I was impressed that you and your company cares enough about its customers to respond so quickly to technical inquiries! As I explained in one of my later emails I am a retired professor of Industrial Hygiene, and very cautious about the use of adhesives especially two part epoxies that have to be mixed on a hard non-reactive surface and applied to the repair. The unique packaging of epoxy free EZ-Poly Multi-Mender in separate pouches so that the ingredients can be completely mixed with out ANY dermal or inhalation contact with the raw materials or the mixture until it is ready to be applied. As a test of its integrity, I did use a dab of EZ-Poly Multi-Mender to adhere the broken plastic nipple to a scrap of the stainless steel tubing so that I could easily check that the adhesives was working BEFORE I refilled the fuel tank. As a testament to the strength of the bond between these two dissimilar materials, I cannot break them apart even holding each piece in two separate vise grip pliers and twisting as hard as I can. To be sure that this repair would work as you promised, I followed your instructions to the letter. I scrupulously cleaned the two surfaces to be bonded. I used several long squirts of chlorinated CRC Brak-Kleen to remove all traces of grease and residual diesel fuel. I have had three snow storms since the repair and the plastic/stainless steel bond is working flawlessly. As you can tell I am a firm believer in the efficacy of EZ-Poly Multi-Mender. Using this product saved me nearly $100 to purchase a replacement tank plus several hours of labor. I will look to EZ-Poly Multi-Mender to make repairs around the house next summer as I begin to paint the exterior wooden siding and trim. Salvatore R. DiNardi, Ph.D., CIH
